Guilford County Welcomes Alana Carpenter as Animal Services Assistant Director

Guilford County is pleased to announce Alana Carpenter as Assistant Director of Animal Welfare for Guilford County Animal Services.

In her role, Carpenter will oversee the daily operations of animal welfare services at the shelter and supervise rescue and foster programs, animal care, animal control, volunteer programs, and community engagement. She will also help ensure the shelter complies with county, state and federal laws, regulations and procedures.

Carpenter brings more than seven years of experience in animal welfare and nonprofit organizations. She previously served as activities, events, and transportation director for St. John’s Northwestern Academies in Delafield, Wis. Her experience also includes serving as shelter director for the Humane Society of Manatee County in Bradenton, Fla., and as a project manager, special event manager, and admissions counselor for the Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Carpenter holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management with a minor in business administration from Florida State University.
